The Food for Thought Project will bring people together through the interconnected stories of land, plants and food, to develop our capacity to prepare & grow our own food, whilst continuing with YARN Australia’s aim to create relationships between Original Sovereign Nations of Australia and non-Indigenous Australians.

The project is about food security, Australian Native food flavours and supporting Original Sovereign Nation Food Growers by showcasing what is possible and accessible.

To engage the community in our vision to build connection and unity between Original Sovereign Nations peoples of Australia and non-Indigenous Australians.

Food is a universal medium that all peoples on Mother Earth can share a story about. We want to create a space where the stories of food can connect us all when we learn more about where food comes from.

How?

We have built relationships with businesses across Australia to collaborate with YARN Australia to provide guidance and their expertise on specific areas in food preparation and understanding where food comes from.

Our YARN Australia Collaborators from A Taste of Tolga, Burbury Whole Foods and Farming Secrets will create a conversation to reflect the shared love of food, share our experience of collaborating and provide tips to inspire all Australians to:

  • Use unique Australian Native food flavours, and support Original Sovereign Nations of Australia Food Growers and Caterers.

  • Connect with land owners across Australia wanting to deepen their knowledge and experience of growing food and connecting human health with soil health.

  • Learning more about the historical significance of place by building intentional relationships with the Original Sovereign Nations of Australia.
